Dr. David Huber, General Partner, has a distinguished career in venture capital and entrepreneurship. Dr. Huber founded Ciena Corporation (NASDAQ: CIEN) in 1992 and Corvis Corporation in 1997, which was later renamed Broadwing Corporation and sold to Level 3 Communications, Inc. in 2007 for ~$1.4B.
Dr. Huber was Chairman of the Board of Corvis/Broadwing from the company's inception until its sale to Level 3. He also served as CEO from 1997 to early 2006 and President from 1997 through mid-2002.
After founding Ciena in 1992, Dr. Huber served first as Chief Technology Officer and later as Chief Scientist before his departure in April 1997.
He has also held senior-level positions at General Instrument (acquired by Motorola), Rockwell International Corporation, Optelecom, Inc. and ITT Industries, Inc., formerly International Telephone & Telegraph Corporation. Dr. Huber is the holder of over 40 US Patents. He has been active in venture capital for nearly ten years providing funding for startup companies seeking angel investing to late-stage operational companies requiring additional funding to expand operations. Dr. Huber has held numerous board positions in addition to his board seat at Broadwing, and is currently a board member of Cidra Corporation and Autani Corporation. Dr. Huber has a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Brigham Young University and a B.S. in physics from Eastern Oregon State University. |
